As we have spent time interviewing them in their homes, we know this generation has so much to teach us about love, hard work, sacrifice, humility, forgiveness, and the human experience. And we want to share those lessons with you and your families in professional-quality, legacy videos.

The Listening Ear Project
films and interviews senior citizens to document their life stories.

We film Seniors

Meet the founder

Katie Cheesman

founder and CEO

Katie created The Listening Ear Project as a way to be a listening ear for this generation and to share their incredible stories that deserve to be heard.

After working as a home health nurse, she was fascinated with her patient’s stories about their childhoods, families, and the wars they fought. So she began filming, and soon felt the need to share these stories with the world. Through it all, she has learned so much about helping those with dementia, people who are shy, or grandparents who can talk for days, share their authentic selves on camera. Five years and hundreds of interviews later, her love for the senior community, and for this work has only grown!

When she’s not hanging out with her elderly friends, you’ll find her spending time with her husband and two little kids, scouting out new restaurants, hiking, reading, or talking adult ballet classes.

"Katie kept my dad talking for over an hour. The greatest miracle of that day was when my dad got my mom (who has dementia) to sing with him and Katie recorded all of it. My mom is now non-verbal, which makes the video even more special."

"Taylor was a dream to work with. She made notes
of the things I wanted her to discuss and also spoke extra loud to help my grandma who is hard of hearing.
She was very professional and in my grandma's
words, a real sweetheart! I couldn’t have asked for anyone better."
